Jeff leads healthcare solutions strategy and market development, fosters innovation and develops sources to add new growth opportunities.  Prior to joining NextHealth, Jeff held a number of strategic sales roles with HealthSparq, Lawson Healthcare, Phytel, and Healthvision. He has over a decade of experience working with health plans, health systems and provider organizations. Jeff has consulted with these organizations to build and implement technologies to improve patient care, impact health outcomes and deliver superior quality and cost data for healthcare consumers.

Biography:
Outside of work Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife and three kids, enjoying the outdoors and being involved in his local community.

Education:
Jeff graduated from Portland State University where he earned a BS in Business Management and a second Major in Marketing.

Description

The Vice President of Sales will report directly to the Executive Vice President of Sales and have responsibility for NextHealth’s top line revenue growth. This position is critical to NHT’s overall success and will be materially rewarded for growth.

Responsibilities

  • Experience brokering and negotiating complex contracts in large national payer accounts
  • Proven history of building strategic relationships, selling and closing complex deals within the Health Plan market.
  • Established as an expert prospector, routinely establishing contacts, gaining referrals and booking appointments with target accounts
  • Strong analytical, creative problem solving and presentation skills
  • Ability to jump into different environments, adapt, and learn new skills and processes quickly
  • Ability to sell to senior leaders and C level executives
  • Manage and prepare sales support for key prospect meetings (both onsite and via telephone) –
  • Skillfully build interest and create opportunities with new prospects
  • Coordinate prospect meetings with other NHT executive’s calendar and log activities in Salesforce
  • Efficiently and gracefully counter top of the funnel objections, prospecting, cold calling, online, as well as have excellent interpersonal & technical skills
  • Responsibility for diversified account pursuits of small, medium, and national accounts from lead generation through contract closure
  • Full accountability for pursuing and completing RFI/RFPs
  • Contract review and management (MSA, SOW, SLAs)
  • Schedule required executive meetings at and attend key industry trade events (e.g. AHIP, Health Plan Alliance, Blues Summit)

Qualifications

Required

  • Proven experience in exceeding quota
  • Healthcare payer experience
  • Self-starter with a history of personal sales quota success
  • 5+ years minimum of achieving or exceeding software quota in complex multi-million-dollar contract value deals
  • 8+ years pursuing health care payor solution/software sales and c-suite executive relationships
  • Must be able to communicate the value proposition/message vs. requiring product owners to support the deal
  • Hunter, experience going after net new business within the last five years.
  • Ability to schedule, orchestrate, and deliver c-suite meetings/presentations solution sales
  • Direct experience in anchoring budget amounts/total contract value in large deals
  • Comfortable working in an early stage and dynamic environment and wearing multiple hats to get the job done and ok doing the work vs. delegating
  • Salesforce.com CRM experience and previous experience with healthcare analytics or consumer engagement
  • College degree from an accredited institution

Maureen O’Connor

Maureen O’Connor, Advisory Board Member

Maureen O’Connor is a senior healthcare executive currently serving in board and advisory roles for a number of health care technology and services companies nationally.

Prior to retiring in January 2017, Maureen served as executive vice president of diversified businesses for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and president of Mosaic Health Solutions, a company created to develop and drive market-facing solutions—through acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships and build-outs—to meet the needs of consumers and other stakeholder in the health care ecosystem. Mosaic Health Solutions recently merged with Cambia’s Direct Health Solutions business and now does business as Echo Health Ventures. Between 2009 and 2014, Maureen served as chief strategy and innovation officer for Blue Cross, responsible for the healthcare and clinical divisions of the company, network relationships and health system innovation, data analytics and insights, strategy, and new business development. Maureen joined BCBSNC in 2000 as vice president and deputy general counsel and later assumed the roles of general counsel and chief administrative officer. Maureen has also served in senior legal roles with CIGNA and Healthsource. She practiced law in North Carolina and in Maine, representing hospital systems, physician practices and other life sciences companies.

Biography:
Maureen serves on several professional and community boards including the Oliver Wyman Healthcare Innovation Leaders Alliance, the United Way of the Greater Triangle (incoming board chair), Family House at UNC Hospitals, and Elon University Law School. In the past she served on the boards of DC-based Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare, Meredith College (chair), BCBSNC Foundation, and the North Carolina Association of Health Plans (president).

She was named by Triangle Business Journal as one of 12 “People to Watch” in 2014. Diversity Journal designated Maureen as one of the nation’s “100 Women to Watch in 2009” and she was recognized in 2008 as one of 10 “Women Extraordinaire” in the Triangle by Business Leader Media.

Maureen received a law degree from Suffolk University Law School and a bachelor’s degree in English from College of the Holy Cross. She is married to Tim O’Connor and has three adult children.


Mark Tomaino

Mark Tomaino, Advisory Board Member

Mark Tomaino is an Operating Partner at Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe, a New York City based private equity firm that invests, principally, in two markets, healthcare and information/business services.  Mark’s focus is exclusively on healthcare technology investment opportunities, including deal generation, due diligence, execution and portfolio company monitoring.   Mark has served on the board of directors of Matrix Medical Network and GetWellNetwork.

Prior to September 2010, Mark served as Senior Vice President, Corporate Development and M&A at The TriZetto Group, a leading healthcare information technology company to the healthcare payer industry, where he had responsibility for developing and executing its external growth strategies, including mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, joint ventures, investments and capital raising activities.   Prior to joining TriZetto, Mark worked at Bausch & Lomb Incorporated in a variety of legal, strategy and business development capacities.

Biography:
Mark has attended the Center for Creative Leadership, an internationally recognized leadership training institute, and enjoys cycling, skiing, contemporary art, wine tasting and international travel.

Mark holds an M.B.A. from The Paul Merage School of Business, University of California, Irvine, where he was Valedictorian and a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Society, a J.D. from the Albany Law School of Union University, where he was a member of the Law Review, and an A.B. in English and Economics from the College of the Holy Cross.
