A regional health plan wanted to show the value of its behavioral health interventions to employers who pay more for a program to guide members to lower cost settings, such as from an inpatient hospitalization to a residential treatment center or an intensive outpatient program. The plan also sought to lower behavioral health costs.
The plan chose NextHealth Technologies to independently analyze the behavioral health program. The behavioral health evaluation was a critical part of a larger initiative to determine the effectiveness of more than 50 clinical initiatives, identify cost-savings opportunities, and reverse its medical cost trend, which had increased 55 percent in the past decade.
